Vitamins And Minerals

Many people confuse vitamins and minerals and are not sure which is which.  They are also not sure how much of each they should be getting to maintain a healthy lifestyle.  This is why the FDA includes the nutritional information on the back of all food packages. 

Obviously the best way to get the highest quality vitamins and minerals is by eating a healthy diet.  Vitamins and minerals that occur naturally are the easiest for the body to assimilate.  They are the purest form that nature intended.  However, if your diet does not contain all of the required essential vitamins and minerals, don’t despair.  It is easy to supplement you intake by using a good multi vitamin. 

If you have been to a drug store lately, you may have been overwhelmed at the vast array of vitamins and mineral supplements available.  There are dozens of manufacturers, each with a slight variation of the content.  This can lead to information overload.  So



how do you find which and mineral supplement is right for you?

First off, you need to ask questions.  Ask the pharmacist which is right for you.  You need to know in general what it is you are looking for, do you need something for a cold, a general multivitamin for you child or for your elderly parent, do you have acne or blemishes.  Do you suffer from some ailment such as constipation?  These things can be caused by a deficiency which can be eliminated (or at least reduced) by increasing your intake.

Vitamins also come in a wide variety of types, they can be tablets, gel capsules and even in a liquid form.  The liquid form is especially helpful if you are trying to get vitamins for your children.  You need to figure out which form works best for you.
